Just across the Mackinac Bridge
Twelve minutes over the bridge gets you big machines, drop-off wash & fold, and hours that run to 11:45 PM. Here's when the crossing is worth it — and how to make it part of a good afternoon.

The drive across the bridge earns its toll in three situations. First: the load is big or weird. A week of camping laundry, two kids' worth of beach towels, a comforter that smells like campfire, sleeping bags at the end of a trip — our Dexter Maxi Load machines swallow in one cycle what takes four rounds in a motel stackable. Second: you don't want to spend vacation time in a laundry chair. Drop the bag at our counter for wash & fold by the pound and it comes back washed, dried, and folded while you do literally anything else. Third: you were coming over anyway. Half of Mackinaw City drives across at some point in the week — for Castle Rock, the Mystery Spot billboards' relentless victory, pasties, or a ferry day — and a laundry bag in the trunk costs you nothing.
The lot and building are at 417 N State St, right in downtown St. Ignace off the waterfront, with parking out front. Machines run on quarters; there's a soap vending machine, snack and pop machines, folding counters, and actual chairs that aren't bolted to a wall of dryers.
A wash-and-dry takes about 90 minutes. That's not dead time in St. Ignace: the boardwalk and marina are a couple blocks away, State Street has food within walking distance, and Castle Rock is a five-minute drive up I-75 if the kids need 189 steps to burn off. Doing a Mackinac Island day from this side works even better. Ferries leave from the St. Ignace docks a two-minute walk from our door, and our lot sells day parking for $10. Drop a wash & fold bag in the morning, catch the boat, and collect folded laundry on your way back to Mackinaw City. One parking spot, two chores deleted.
We're also open later than vacation laundry usually needs — 6 AM to 11:45 PM, every day — so a load after dinner and the fort and the fudge shops is still comfortably doable.

For one small load, no — we'll say it so you don't have to. For bulky or week-sized loads, drop-off service, or any day you're crossing the bridge anyway, yes. That's what the big machines and the by-the-pound counter are for.
